Candy Emerson

I have always been an artist at heart and look at the world through that lens. When I look at a striking or interesting landscape, flower, leaf, animal, dragonfly or architectural detail, I am inspired to think about how it will translate into a piece of jewelry. There is so much beauty in this world and so many ways to interpret the vision and the feelings that each element evokes.

About Candy

Handcrafting jewelry makes me smile! Look at the titles of career self-help books and the message is to follow your passion, do what you love and determine the color of your parachute. So, I moved to historic Hendersonville, near Asheville NC, set up a jewelry workshop, and determined that my favorite parachute color is the next one.

When designing, I start with a basic idea of what I want to create, but I may not always know exactly how the piece will evolve. Being comfortable with this approach to the creative process inspires me to be fluid and allow change. This fluidity has resulted in my work being described as organic, eclectic and unique.

I love the inherent beauty of metal and the multitude of designs that can be created through shape, texture, color and the embellishment of metal with gemstones, enamel and hand coloring. The metals that I work with are Silver, Copper, Gold and Brass. Each metal brings something different to the hand crafting process and combining the metals can be so beautiful and interesting.

So by following my passion, doing what I love and using all of the parachute colors, my goal is to create a quality, handcrafted piece of wearable art that you will enjoy as much as I enjoyed creating it!
